BlackBerry Presented Lunch n' Learn Sessions

BlackBerry provides both in-person and virtual learning sessions for professionals. These can be specifically formatted for specific projects or a wide variety of subject matter depending on the need. We offer AIA-CEU Sessions as well as non-credited sessions. Let us know your needs and preferred content information; we will tailor our presentation. For in person Lunch and Learn Sessions, BlackBerry will pay for a catered lunch arranged by the organization from a local eatery of their choice.

Commercial Historic Window Restoration and Replication

This is a 1-Credit AIA-CEU Session. The session is one hour and provides an understanding of the challenges required for properly planning and documenting large scale historic restoration/renovation projects. It will include the methods and concerns of working on commercial historic buildings in urban settings including staging, abatement, material handling, storage, restoration techniques for large scale windows in both size and quantity.

Window Design-Performance-Installation

Non-credit 2-hour session that provides a full review of window types, operation, energy performance, structural performance, and glazing types; and how to select the optimum window for the building type and location. We provide in-depth explanation of window installation methods and component assemblies. This is a 2-hour session for an architect or engineer in need of a practical understanding of window selection for retrofit or new construction.

Traditional Buiding Conference Online Education Series

Traditional Building Magazine and Conferences has been a leader in the promotion of saving, restoring, and replicating historical architecture. Their Online Education Series as well as their in-person annual conferences provide in depth educational sessions in all aspect of historical and traditional architecture and construction. All sessions provide AIA-CEU Credits.

National Park Service Preservation Information

The National Park Service which is under the U.S. Department of Interior is our governmental office that oversees the Federal Historic Tax Credit Program. They provide the guidelines for compliance and the approval of all projects that participate in this program. They also oversee the preservation of all National Monuments and Parks as well have provide architectural guidance in the preservation methods and practices for historic structures. State Historic Preservation Offices

The State Historic Preservation Offices or SHPO, were set up in response to the passage of the Federal Historic Tax Credit program to administer and review the in-state projects seeking these tax credits. These offices are part of and funded by your State Government. They often also are associated with or part of the State Historic or History Divisions for each individual state. The job of staff is to review the applications for both Federal and State (if available in their state) Tax Credit programs, or State Grants for restoration or replication. The guidelines for the method of work and required processes have been created by the National Park Service under the U.S. Department of Interior. When working on any older or historic structure we work suggest contacting the SHPO office in your state in the early stages of the process.
